A Need for an Alternative Fuel
A Need for an Alternative Fuel
By Butch Tegue
The 20th century saw the advent of many inventions. Most important inventions include motor vehicles and airplanes.
The advent of these vehicles has vastly shrunk the world as travel time between cities and countries have been vastly reduced to a satisfactory low. Also they provide a comfortable journey to keep you ticking as soon as reach your destination.
These vehicles have fueled the growth of world economy to an unsurpassed pace and has been instilling great hopes in the minds of many. But these advantages do come for a price.
The fuel used by these cars, buses and airplanes has been creating a devastating effect on the climate of this mother earth. The emission of greenhouse gases has contributed vastly to a phenomenon referred to as greenhouse effect. This has been raising the average temperature of the earth to new highs. Also the rate of usage of these oil based fuels is growing at such an alarming rate that they may not last even for the next twenty years.
Hence there is a serious necessity to find an alternative energy source which not only can boast of infinite supplies but also a clean environment. Hydrogen as an alternative fuel has been doing the rounds for quite a sometime.
The important advantages of using hydrogen as a fuel is that it is abundant, has clean emissions and most importantly its by-product is clean water which can be used for everyday household purposes.
Several advancements have been made into this concept and some prototype vehicles have been developed in this regard which are proving to be quite successful. If everything goes well, we can expect hydrogen to dominate and satisfy the world’s fuel needs in the near future.
