By Stacey Palmer

So it is winter already, I can’t believe how fast it got here, seems like just yesterday I was laying outside soaking up that sun. Whether I like it or not winter is here, so with winter being here what exactly are the trends in coats for the year 2010. It is pretty obvious as to what the trend has been over the past 3 winters, coats with the fur hood were worn by probably 75% of the population over the past 3 years. So this means that this year the trend in obviously going to be the same right?

Wrong, the trend is finally changing after 3 years of holding the record the fur hood coat is slowly moving down the list. So what is the trend for 2010, the trend for 2010 is pea coat. That’s right this year you are going to notice everybody and anybody showing off there wool pea coats. Wool pea coats have always been around but were never very popular with the younger adults, This year you will find your mother, your grandmother and even your child wearing or asking for a wool pea coat.

This style of coat is no longer just for adults, teens have took an interest in them and the trend will soar from here on in. Where does this leave wool hood coats, well they still remain in a close second and I think we will continue to see these types of coats around for many years.

But if you want to stay ahead with the trends this winter, get yourself a wool pea coat.

Winter socks can make a great gift for someone when you don’t know what to buy them. However finding stores that sell great winter socks at a discounted price can get tricky. Here is a list of several different stores that you can purchase cheap winter socks.

A great store to purchase winter socks at is Jcpenny. In order to find your winter socks at a cheap price you need to wait until the sales kick in. When it is close to Christmas these socks go down in price. You can pick from all different types of socks. There are even fuzzy socks with Christmas patterns on them. These are great for stocking stuffers. When you find them on sale they are usually around five dollars. They even have bundles of winter socks that you can purchase.

Another great store to purchase winter socks at a discounted price is the Dollar Tree. Many people do not think that dollar stores have great things but they do. Many of the dollar stores purchase their socks from other stores when they have too much inventory. At the dollar store you will find different types of socks as well as winter socks. They often have a wide variety and are only a dollar.

Another store that many people do not consider when looking for winter socks is Gordman’s. This is a discount store that gets their inventory from other stores much like the dollar store does. However they charge more than a dollar for their socks. If you shop on certain days you can find winter socks for very cheap since Gordmans often has fifty percent days where they take fifty percent off their clearance items (including winter socks.)

So the next time you are looking to buy some great winter socks try one of these great stores. They all have something different to offer. You will leave with very comfortable socks and with money still in your wallet.

Winter Socks - Mom Always Said to Keep Your Feet Warm and Dry

Olivia Gehl

Choosing the right winter socks is essential to keeping your toes toasty and warm during the frosty season. Whether you're using them for skiing, shoveling snow, ice skating, snowmobiling or just waving away the winter doldrums with a cup of hot cocoa, there are socks for you. Here are some things to look for.

Skiing and Snowboarding - Try to find socks that are sleek and fit closely to your foot. Fabrics that wick away sweat will prevent your feet from freezing or steaming from sweat. If possible, take your ski boot with you when looking for socks so you can find a thickness that fits just snugly, not too loose and not too tight. Cutting off circulation with too-tight socks will cause your feet to become very cold very quickly. Look for socks made of synthetic materials designed for humidity control.

Shoveling snow - Nice warm wool or acetate socks inside your favorite snow boots should keep your feet dry and warm while you push all that snow out of your driveway. If the snow is slushy or wet and heavy, try a water-resistant sock that will prevent wet feet.

Ice Skating - Depending on your skates, you will need specific thicknesses of socks to keep your feet warm and safe. For figure skates, because they fit so closely to the foot, thin standard socks are advised. Make sure they come up to just past the boot of the skate, but not much higher to encourage circulation. Hockey skates demand heavy weaves and durable stitching to keep feet secure in large skate bodies. There are many brands of socks developed specifically for hockey skates. Look for humidity and vapor control to prevent sweat from making your feet too hot or too cold.

Indoor socks - When the weather gets cold and you just want to curl up with some nice warm socks, a blanket and a good book, there are many choices for a great fit and feel. Cotton socks come in a range of thicknesses and patterns; consider hang-drying them to prevent them from shrinking or warping. Wool socks run the gamut between soft and itchy, so be sure to choose carefully. Acrylic, polyester and other synthetic socks have many textures, from fuzzy to sleek and come in many colors and knits. Finally, my favorite, grandmother-knitted socks. They come in colors only a grandchild could love and warm both your toes and your heart.

Exotic socks - There are some very high-tech socks on the market for niche crowds. Battery-powered heated socks, socks that change color in the presence of heat and vibrating massage socks have cropped up in stores everywhere, looking for some feet to call their home. The only caveat I have is to watch out for the laundering instructions and make sure that when it says 'hand-wash only', you're willing to hand wash them.

Undoubtedly, there is a plethora of socks to choose from. When in doubt, try them on and see what feels right to you. Whether they're heavy or light, wool or silk, the most important aspect of your sock choice is going to be comfort.

Choosing the Proper Winter Socks for You

By Dick Atkinson

Those who live in countries that face winter seasons whether mild to extreme should make sure that they have proper winter socks to face all types of winter weather that Mother Nature bestows upon us. Choosing the proper winter sock depends on what type of winter footwear that you wear, for instance, ladies who wear high heel fashioned boots can wear a pair of nylons with cotton socks over them as a way to keep the feet warm and somewhat insulated within their high heeled boots. Ladies who wear the flat type of winter boots can also where both nylons and cotton socks as a form of insulation for their feet and once they reach their destination simply pull off the cotton socks to allow the feet some breathing room.

Men who travel or are outdoors in winter weather also need some sort of insulation for the feet and this depends on the type of winter footwear as well. Galoshes or overshoes tend to be made of rubber with little or no protection from frostbite and are more sensible to wear only in rainy weather. Proper winter socks for men should be ones that are made of wool that are put over cotton socks which absorb the sweat but still allow the foot to breathe. The top layer of wool socks can be removed once they reach their destination until they are ready to leave again.

No matter if you are a man or a woman, in extreme winter weather, proper protection of the extremities should be taken in order to prevent frostbite. Proper winter clothing that includes fleece-lined winter boots that are flat to help prevent nasty falls on icy pathways along with woolly winter socks with a pair of cotton sock underneath or thermal type winter socks will keep your feet toasty warm and out of danger from frostbite.

Time to buy a new coat? Here are some of the most popular brands of the season.

Gap, Abercrombie, Hollister, Bebe, Old Navy, Columbia, American Eagle.

One of the most popular features of a stylish winter coat is a faux fur hood. These have a elegant and beautiful look. A lot of people are choosing down filled "puffy" coats. They are exceptionally warm on these cold winter days. Old navy is one of the least expensive brands. Columbia and Abercrombie are more expensive. A common style by gap is the wool toggle coat. These look like something a businesswoman could wear to look nice and stay warm. The downside of a wool coat though is that most of them have to be dry cleaned. Columbia brand is well known for their extra warm ski coats. They usually come in bright colors. Hollister is very similar in style to Abercrombie, puffy light or khaki colors with faux fur trim. American eagle is similar to gap with the selection of wool coats. Gap is probably the best brand if you are looking for an attractive trench coat.

Unique designs that seem to be in demand right now are the plaids, houndstooth, and name brand logos. It seems like black, gray, and khaki tans will never go out of style. These colors are neutral and very easily match with most outfit weather it be sweats, jeans, or dress slacks. These colors also do not look extremely out of place with dress shoes, sandals, or tennis shoes. They are just very soft basic plain colors that will go with almost anything and not to mention they look wonderful with your jewelry and make your jewelry stand out.

I hope this will give you some ideas to help you find and choose a coat for this upcoming winter season!

give your feet the protection they need to take on the worst winter weather.
Boots are a type of footwear that protects the foot and ankle. Boots are higher and larger than shoes and sandals. Some boots are high enough to protect the calves (lower part of the leg) as well.

Rain boots (or rubber boots) are made from rubber or plastic. Rain boots protect a person's feet from water and rain. People who work on fishing boats and farmers wear rubber boots to keep their feet dry. People who work in chemical factories wear rubber boots to protect their feet from dangerous chemicals.

Winter boots are boots that keep a person's feet warm in cold weather. People in cold countries such as Canada and Sweden wear winter boots during the cold season. Winter boots can be made from many different materials, such as leather, fabric, or plastic. Winter boots are insulated with wool or fur to keep the feet warm. Most winter boots also keep people's feet dry.
-winter socks are designed to keep a person's feet warm in cold weather. People in cold countries such as Canada and Sweden wear winter socks during the cold season. Winter socks can be made from many different materials, but most winter socks are made with wool. Wool is a warm fabric which helps to insulate the feet and keep them warm.
There are also foot and leg coverings for women which are related to socks. These articles of clothing, which are made from polyester or other synthetic materials, are called pantyhose, nylons, or tights.Cold feet can lead to miserable winter cycling and keeping your extremities warm is vital for successful winter training. The natural fiber absorbs sweat to keep your feet dry and the socks have flat, handlocked stitching in the toes to prevent the seams rubbing.
Girls winter socks are trendy and fun to wear, so they have become more of a novelty item in many stores rather than just a way to stay warm during cool weather. With the pool parties and barbecues wrapping up, and the wind, rain and snow on the way, many girls like to add new and fun accessories to their winter wardrobe. For many, this includes winter socks that express their unique personality while keeping their toes toasty at the same time
