Is 23 Too Late To Learn To Play The Piano?

Id like to learn to play an instrument next year and piano appeals to me. Do you think its too late though? Also, would like to hear suggestions of other instruments to possibly learn instead (not guitar or drums).
Thanks in advance!

It’s never too late to take up an instrument. My oldest student started when she was 78 and went on to perform in all of our concerts. A word of advice though, be patient with yourself. People get all het up if it isn’t happening fast enough. Your fingers will need to be trained and that can take a little time, practice every day.

No , i learn ed to play an organ ,very cheap , motor driven , at age 4- 11,could never play the piano!
Had a near Death experience after going into a coma after i had an adverse reaction to suxemethonium in a Nisan’s fun duplication operation at age 23.
within 6 weeks i had recovered and can play the piano as session musician on simply listening to music, i can transpose it.
    to this day
nobody really knows how i can do this-poss ptsd then a new neural net pathway established
    however
to simulate, i’d recommend deep relaxation ,yoga, breathing techniques, meditation.
you are at your most creative when totally at inner calm,if you can do something, you’ll do it whilst in that state

    no way.
who cares if the saying goes “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”
a new day’s a new opportunity and why not? who says you can’t?
drums is underrated. guitar is awesome. try something wack (in the good way!) like the xylophone or vibraphone. they are absolutely awesome. it’s a percussion instrument, but you’re kinda playing the piano.
never to late to learn a musical instrument.
i play piano, guitar, drums and percussion. :)

You can learn the piano, but it will not be easy. As you get older, your brain loses it’s “plasticity,” which means that it is hard to learn things. That is why people that learn things at a younger age generally are better at what they do, in this case, the piano. You can learn the piano.

it’s never too late although it may be too late to be another bruce hornsby. you can always start and learn anything you want. but pursuing a career in something is a different story. go ahead do it.

Nah… it is never “too late” to learn an instrument. You just basically catch on it easier at a younger age, but you can still do just as good as any 7 year old would do with catching on if you are good.
