To Pop or Not to Pop

To Pop or Not to Pop

By Olivia Gehl
Like after any other hard day at work, I slipped into my bunny slippers and head for the dining room table. My ACTII popcorn awaits. Having fresh popped popcorn after a hard day is a tradition since undergrad. The sound of the kernels popping just puts my mind to ease.

The smell of butter topping entices my senses. I am delighted and transformed into a more relaxed being. As the microwave buzzer sounds, I am moments from sheer bliss. To think such joy can be derived at the bargain price of three dollars. There is only one more task to complete to seal this treasure. I found a quiet a place to sit but there’s something missing. Some soft music in the background, check, that’s not it. My word search puzzle book, check, that’s not it. I know what it is. I dash back into the kitchen and there it is a cool refreshing beverage to quench my pallet. I grabbed a Coke and head back onto the patio.

Life can get no sweeter than this. I love popcorn without any doubt in mind. If I was force to choose one reason why I love popcorn, it would be an easy task. I love popcorn just because popcorn is popcorn. Seasonal flavored varieties to movie popcorn, I would try them all. I am not partial. My allegiance to popcorn may be for a lifetime. May no one come between popcorn and I. I am prepared to stand strong for such a pure form of happiness!
